As a photographer, I've seen my fair share of weddings, but Meaghan and Peter's celebration at St Boniface Golf Course was one for the books! Not only did the pandemic force them to delay their reception by a whole year, but Mother Nature decided to throw in some extra challenges in the form of frigid temperatures.
Let me tell you, trying to snap photos of a shivering bridal party is not an easy task. My fingers were numb, my nose was red, and I was pretty sure my camera lens was fogging up from my breath. But you know what they say, the show must go on!
Despite the cold, Meaghan and Peter were determined to make the most of their long-awaited reception. They had planned an epic fireworks display and late-night sparklers, which sounded amazing in theory, but in practice, it was a bit of a challenge.
First off, trying to light sparklers in sub-zero temperatures is like trying to start a fire with wet wood. And let me tell you, nothing kills the romance of a sparkler shower like frostbitten fingers and chattering teeth. But, like true troopers, the happy couple braved the elements, and we managed to capture some stunning photos of their friends getting close with a hundred sparklers.
As for the fireworks, let's just say that watching a spectacular display of pyrotechnics while bundled up in three layers of clothing and a parka is a unique experience. But it was worth it, and the photos turned out fantastic!
All in all, Meaghan and Peter's wedding reception was a testament to the power of love and determination. Despite the odds being stacked against them, they refused to let anything dampen their spirits or their celebration.
And as for me, I learned a valuable lesson that day. Always bring extra hand warmers, invest in some thermal socks, and never underestimate the power of a couple in love, even in the face of freezing temperatures and delayed receptions!
Until next time,
Stay frosty
